Frequently Asked Questions
At what age can students first apply to Mirman?
In order to attend beginning in Kindergarten (our beginning level), the student must be five years old by September 1. That usually means applying the year before when the child is four years old.
What are the school hours?
Students in Lower School (Kindergarten–LS4) attend school from 8:00 a.m.–3:10 p.m. In Upper School (US1–4), students are present from 8:00–3:30.
Do you have an after school program?
The After School Annex begins on the first day of school and continues until the end of the school year. Students have the option to choose between supervised free play on the Playground or the quiet of a supervised Study Hall. Supervision and care is provided until 6:00 p.m. In addition, enrichment classes are offered for several weeks throughout the school year; in the past, these classes have included Engineering, Robotics, Woodworking, Art, and Chess. Do you have a waiting list from year to year?
We do not keep students in the wait pool from year to year, as we consider every year as a new year. If a student is placed in the wait pool in March when decisions are emailed, there may be a spot in the class for him or her during the spring or summer months before school begins. If the student decides to apply the following year, he or she reapplies and goes through the admission process for the next year.
What world languages are offered and when?
All students in Lower School take Spanish beginning in Kindergarten. In Upper School, students may take Spanish, French, Latin, or Mandarin.
Are siblings and children of alumni guaranteed admission?
They are not. However, our policy states: When, in the opinion of the Admission Committee, applicants are equally qualified, siblings, children of alumni, and children of faculty members are given preference.
