Connie ChiuDirector of Inclusivity and Equity
Connie Ni Chiu has been working with youth at the intersection of education and social justice for more than seven years in the Bay Area, New York City, and Los Angeles. While attending the University of California - Berkeley, she served as an AmeriCorps Student Support Staff and Counselor at an alternative-continuation high school and as a Student-Teacher Poet for June Jordan's Poetry for the People Residency at UC Berkeley. Following that, she served as a School Business Manager for the New York City Department of Education's Alternative Schools and Programs, working specifically on New York State's Close to Home Initiative to realign the educational and juvenile justice systems for better youth justice and treatment programs.
Connie moved back to Los Angeles to be closer to family and started as the Assistant to the Head of School in 2015. She began to serve as the Director of Inclusivity and Equity in 2016, where she works on building and sustaining a positive school culture to affirm all the students, staff, parents, and partners who make the Mirman community a safe space to learn and grow.
