Alyssa WoodsAssociate Teacher-Physical Education / Assistant to Athletics Director
With a competitive nature and passion for camaraderie, Coach Alyssa began playing a variety of sports beginning at the age of five. During her youth, she competed in baseball/softball, basketball, soccer, and track and field. She continued to play basketball and softball competitively throughout her high school career, where she began to truly fall in love with athletics. She helped her team win the Central Section Division II girls' basketball title, was named to the City-County All-Star Basketball team and was a first team all-WYL selection. Upon finishing high school, Alyssa continued her athletic endeavors at San Diego State University where she played for the women’s ultimate Frisbee team for three years. Upon graduation, she helped coach and condition the Frisbee team for a year and served as a student-athlete mentor for California State University, San Marcos Athletics before beginning her master’s program. She has made it her personal mission to encourage, inspire, and motivate the athletes she gets the pleasure of working with.
Alyssa has a B.S. in Kinesiology, an M.A. in Sports and Performance Psychology, and is currently pursuing her Ed.D. in Sport and Performance Psychology. She also has the following certifications, qualifications, and professional memberships: Gold Coach License through USA Basketball; Double-Goal Coach: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons certification through the Positive Coaching Alliance; Crossfit Level 1; Yoga Ed: Teaching Children’s Yoga; Parisi Speed School Intern; Association of Applied Sport Psychology Member.
