Michael Coleman

Physical Education Teacher

Michael Coleman has taught physical education at Mirman School since 2001. He earned a B.A. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from which he graduated in 2000. Before coming to Mirman, he worked at Crossroads during the summers and at sports camps for UCLA and the Lakers.

Michael teaches both Lower and Upper School students. He coaches our Girls and Boys Basketball teams along with Girls Volleyball in the spring. He has been successful in the past reaching the playoffs with some of his teams and has had undefeated seasons in basketball; his Girls and Boys Basketball as well as Girls Volleyball teams have reached the championship rounds of play. He has reached the championship round in Girls & Boys Basketball in addition to Girls Volleyball. In the beginning of his career, Michael could be found working at UCLA's football and basketball camps; now, he can be found at Camp Mirman in the summers.

Coach Coleman is involved in the Inclusivity and Equity working group. In addition, he is involved in our Advisory Program, and enjoys working with the students to discuss important issues that will impact them in this changing world.

He holds a Double-Goal Coach: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons certification through the Positive Coaching Alliance. He is a Professional Member of Shape America for PE teachers.
