First Mirman x CHLA event a success
2,500 books, 3 hours, and too much love to count was poured in to the effort this weekend as the Service Learning Committee and Mirman Faculty and staff came together to sort and deliver new books for the Literally Healing program at CHLA. Service Learning Committee member Shareena Kumar writes: "With this program, the kids at CHLA are given brand new books (relative to age and circumstance, of course) during preparation for surgery, during hospital stays, and/or outpatient treatments. My favorite part of it all is the look on these tiny patients' faces when they are told 'No, you don't have to give the books back — They are yours to keep!!"
The Service Learning Committee at Mirman has many beneficial campaigns lined up for this partnership throughout this school year, includig the Holidays for the Heart, Make March Matter, and much more.
