As part of their thematic study of Los Angeles, Second Graders began by using their Chromebooks to research and explore their favorite parts of their home city. Next, they'll make sketches of those places, eventually turning their sketches into 8" x 8" canvases, which they will velcro on to a larger mural on the exterior art studio wall facing the school's central lawn.

"The wall space has been prepared, and our classes are making a lot of progress!" shared Art Teacher Patter Hellstrom. "This in-depth project will also feature a class trip to the El Pueblo monument and Olvera Street, where our Second Graders will learn about the city's history."

Stay tuned for updates as the mural progress continues!
