Raised to the power of Mirman

Upper School

In Upper School, students in Fifth Grade through US4 (Eighth Grade) enjoy a middle school experience designed to help them further explore their passions and talents as they enter adolescence and prepare for education beyond Mirman’s campus. By turns academically rigorous and socially supportive, the Upper School continues Mirman’s focus on the development of the whole child. And while the transition to the Upper School brings with it exciting new opportunities, the familiarity of a cohesive K-8 community allows students to thrive and grow not just as learners, but leaders and change agents.

Building on the best practices for gifted children that inform Mirman’s integrated, project-based approach in the Lower School, students in Upper School are encouraged to question, explore, and discover. A highly-educated faculty leads a strong core curricular program, and guide peer-to-peer connections, collaboration, and social-emotional development in grade-level advisory groups. The Upper School experience also boasts signature programs such as LEAP (seminar-style classes led by visiting professionals with interests and experience ranging from Pixar to the White House), fully realized theatrical productions, student council, a student-led social justice collective, a host of student-centered affinity groups, and MirmanX (where student cohorts are granted funding to bring their moonshot ideas to life).
